A Phase I Environnental Site Assessment (ESA) is an investigation of a site to identify potential environmental concerns. Fundy Engineering has completed in excess of 1000 Phase I ESAs. We have expertise in identifying potential environmental concerns for all types of land use and occupancy. Our investigation and reporting procedure is consistent with the requirements of CSA Standard Z768-94. Over time, we have acquired an extensive library of information, both publicly available and proprietary, that enables Fundy Engineering to complete extensive and thorough assessments.
A typical Phase I ESA includes a review of site conditions, regulatory status and designation, records review of aerial photos (current and historical), property maps, fire insurance maps, title search through city directories, past land use of the subject and surrounding properties, company records and any other applicable reports available. A site visit is undertaken to observe property use, surrounding land use, site services, storage tanks and contents, hazardous materials, unidentified substances and odours.
