It is becoming increasingly important to assess the environmental consequences of any development before it is initiated. Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA’s) are often required by legislation such as the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (CEAA) or the Environmental Impact Assessment regulations of provincial Departments of the Environment. The overall aim of such an investigation to review the areas adjacent to the proposed development with a view to identify potential environmental concerns before construction begins. The scope of such an investigation normally includes such considerations as: - A review of the project and development of a project description.
- Identification of Valued Ecological Components (VEC’s) in the study area.
- Analysis of the potential environmental effects of the project, including those anticipated during construction and those from ongoing operation.
- Recommendations for technically and economically feasible mitigative measures to reduce potential impacts to VEC’s.
- Recommendations for any follow up work, if required.
Fundy Engineering has experience in completing these assessments in a timely and cost effective manner. |
